AWS Availability Zone (AZ)
AWS Availability Zones (AZs) are distinct locations within a cloud region that are engineered to be isolated from failures in other AZs. They offer physical redundancy and operational stability for Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources and services, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance for applications and data. Each AZ is composed of one or more data centers equipped with independent power, cooling, and networking to mitigate the risk of simultaneous failures. AWS regions are comprised of multiple AZs, allowing users to deploy applications and databases across separate AZs. This architecture supports the design of resilient and scalable cloud solutions, facilitating automatic failover, load balancing, and reduced latency by geographically dispersing resources. Utilizing multiple AZs is a core principle of cloud computing best practices, enabling developers and businesses to ensure continuous operation and optimal performance of their services on the AWS platform.
