intermediary_kalpa

Intermediary kalpas (Skt. antara-kalpa; Tib. བར་བསྐལ་, Wyl. bar bskal) are units that compose a greater kalpa; they are intermediary periods of time between the beginning and end of a greater kalpa.

For example, it refers to one of the four intermediary kalpas, which are the kalpas of formation, duration, destruction, and voidness. It can also refer to the twenty intermediary kalpas | twenty periods of time that compose each of these periods, and each is subdivided into periods of increase and decrease (of the merit and life-span of beings living during that period).
