Misdirection

Don't Return Disinformation, Propaganda, Gaslighting by TPTB

“We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.” - William J. Casey, CIA Director (1981)“

NOTE: Yasha Levine, author of Surveillance Valley - The Rise of the Military-Digital Complex, worked for mainstream media propaganda outlets (see Operation Mockingbird). Thus you know that his book is simply ”controlled opposition“ and isn't really revealing much and is likely doing lots of misdirection and limited hangouts.

The word misdirection refers to the act of intentionally diverting attention or guiding someone away from the truth or intended focus. Often used in contexts like magic, fraud, and propaganda, misdirection is a strategy that exploits distraction or concealed information to achieve a desired outcome. It can function as a noun, representing both the act and the technique itself. The first recorded use of misdirection in the English language dates back to the 17th century, around 1640.

The etymology of the word misdirection combines the prefix mis-, indicating “wrong” or “bad,” with direction, derived from the Latin term *directio*, meaning “guidance” or “management.” This concept passed through Old French before entering Middle English as a term denoting incorrect guidance. The evolution of misdirection into its modern meaning reflects its integration into various disciplines, emphasizing its role in strategies of distraction and deception.

Snippet from Wikipedia: Disinformation

Disinformation is misleading content deliberately spread to deceive people, or to secure economic or political gain and which may cause public harm. Disinformation is an orchestrated adversarial activity in which actors employ strategic deceptions and media manipulation tactics to advance political, military, or commercial goals. Disinformation is implemented through attacks that "weaponize multiple rhetorical strategies and forms of knowing—including not only falsehoods but also truths, half-truths, and value judgements—to exploit and amplify culture wars and other identity-driven controversies."

In contrast, misinformation refers to inaccuracies that stem from inadvertent error. Misinformation can be used to create disinformation when known misinformation is purposefully and intentionally disseminated. "Fake news" has sometimes been categorized as a type of disinformation, but scholars have advised not using these two terms interchangeably or using "fake news" altogether in academic writing since politicians have weaponized it to describe any unfavorable news coverage or information.
